Here at Southern Distilling Company, we love the fall season and not only is October designated as North Carolina Spirits Month, it is also National Applejack Month as well! Whether they’re first-time or annual favorites, there are so many festivals happening in the South, from Statesville’s hot air Carolina BalloonFest to the many apple festivals that take place across the state. And whether you’re football tailgating or just sitting around the bonfire to enjoy these autumnal evenings, this tasty cocktail is perfect for fall and will warm you from the inside out! 

What you’ll need:
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
sprigs of fresh thyme
ounce Southern Star Bourbon Whiskey
ounce apple brandy
ounce fresh apple cider
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 ounce thyme simple syrup
Dash Angostura bitters

Glass: Rocks

To make the simple syrup, combine sugar and water in a small saucepan. Stir over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and add thyme. Allow to steep for 15 minutes, then strain and refrigerate.
To make the cocktail, fill a cocktail strainer with ice. Add Southern Star Bourbon Whiskey, apple brandy, apple cider, lemon juice, simple syrup and bitters. Shake well and strain into ice-filled glasses.
